Super Dirt Week Repeat for CB3 and Brachmann Racing

Share/Save/Bookmark

It was Saturday afternoon and literally minutes after pulling his small block modified into the pits from the Salute to the Troops 150 with a bad vibration, Chad and his team headed back to their campsite to prepare their local big block modified for a run that night at the Rolling Wheels Raceway ... and what a run it was!

After finding himself in last years Rite Aid 200 with a win at the Cayuga County Fair Speedway in his small block modified last year, Chad figured that he would again attempt the gain entry through the back door again this year. The difference was, he would have to do it with his big block in 2009. this is a car that has been driven only three times prior this year, and the first two were way back in march when the team made a small trip to pennsylvania to "get the cobwebs out" for this up coming season.

There was a buzz in the air as soon as the team pulled in with the pits already full of World of Outlaw sprinters, and Super Dirt Week fans craving racing after two of the past three days had already fallen to rain. Chad would draw an eight for his straight up heat, which would put him on the outside pole, and in a good position to qualify for the nights feature with a heads up start format. In his heat race, CB3 would wheel the Mighty Taco modified to the point position in just two laps and hold on for a heat win in the second of three modified heats for the evening. "The car felt good, a few changes and I think we'll be in good shape tonight" were the words Chad used to describe his heat when climbing out of the car.

With his heat win, Chad would start outside pole for the feature, and found himself chasing down another Chad, Chad Homan for the first eleven laps and while trying to find a hole to put the 3 car in the front, he noted that Homan was pushing hard in turns one and two. CB3 would eventually put the 3 car right beside Homan on lap 11 in the turn, forcing Homan to back off the throttle and eventually allowing CB3 to drive away with the lead. Chad would maneuver lap traffic very well, while stretching his lead to almost 9 car lengths before a caution on lap 22 would slow the field. On the restart, CB3 would again check out and hold on for the checkers on lap 25 and repeat as the second time winner of the "Win and Your In" Rite Aid 200 qualifier.
