Green Flag Flies on 2009

      Last weekend CB3 and the Brachmann racing team took their show on the road to start the 2009 season and despite the carnage behind them, both Brian Swartzlander and New York-invader CB3 put on a whale of a show for the lead, and gave the fans in the stands a little heat for the early spring event. Chad (#3 of N. Tonawanda, NY) took the lead from Bolland on lap three and looked to be unbeatable, as he led the next 12 laps.  But the experience and patience of Six-time and Defending Track Champion Brian Swartzlander paid off on lap 16 when he took the lead exiting turn two.  Chad had one more shot at the win when the caution came out on the white flag lap.  He briefly took the lead on the restart, but the two leaders made just enough contact to break Chad loose and Swartzlander drove away for the 61st win of his career. In what seemed like a tough finish, the team held their head high on their opening night and would pack up and move to the Mercer Raceway Park the next night. 

       At Mercer on saturday night, CB3 and the team checked in for the first event of the 2009 BRP Modified Tour. Rex King quickly raced to the lead in the feature over regular Del Rougeaux, Jr., while Brian Swartzlander and CB3 moved into the top five. King, who was running third, spun in turn two on lap three and collected a bunch of the top runners including Swartzlander, Chad, Gary Smoker and Jim Rasey. The fight wasn't over as Chad would work his way back to the front throughout the night and end up compiling another top 10 finish in the 9th position. CB3 was one of the nights heat winners along with Swartzlander, Dave Murdick and King.
