Holiday Weekends Bring Lots of Traffic

Share/Save/Bookmark

Many of us as race fans expect to fight most of our traffic on our way to the track. Not so true for CB3, as these past few weekends he's seen nothing but lap cars in his attempts for a win in 2008.

It has been what many would consider a great start to the season for the Brachmann crew with only 1 finish outside the top 3 at their local home tracks, but for this crew, that's not good enough.

Opening night at the Merrittville Speedway saw CB3 sitting on the pole to start the 35 lap 358 modified feature after setting fast time at test and tune night.  Chad would lead several laps over the course of the evening with his Original Pizza Logs machine, and would swap slide jobs with Mr Small Block Pete Bicknell several times before "traffic" set in. On a restart on lap 33, CB3 was placed behind the lap car of Andrew Sittler and the leader Bicknell. Sittler offered to move tail, but was asked to hold his position on the restart making it even tougher to track down the rabbitt, Bicknell with an extra car to pass. Chad would settle for a 2nd place finish, and hope to be 1 spot better the following week.

The following week on a special Victoria Day monday, we would see a similar finish as Chad worked his way to the front and with his fishing rod in hand, reeling in the 38 of Scott Wood, once again lap traffic would play a factor on a last minute restart that saw the 23 of Larry Lampman dive under CB3 and eventually nip Wood at the line, leaving Chad with yet another top 3 finish in the opener to the Lucas Oil 358 Shootout Series.

Just four days later at the Ransomville Speedway for the 2nd round of the Lucas Oil 358 Shootout and a Memorial Day friday night, CB3 would start 5th for the feature. Chad would eventually find his way to 3rd, with teammate for the night Stewart Friesen in tow at 4th. With yet another late restart Bicknell would lead, followed by  Rick Richner and then 3 lap cars before the 3rd place Brachmann and Friesen combo. Chad would eventually work around the likes of Travis Braun, Joe Kubinec and Todd Gordon, but could not reel in the likes of Richner or Bicknell and would settle for a 3rd place finish.

June is upon us and this team looks to improve would many would consider good finishes and eventually turn the page to "Paydirt" as many refer to as victory lane. Come out and support your local hero at either of his home tracks this year, the Ransomville or Merrittville Speedways.
