Another Weekend Of Second To One

Chad Brachmann is know as many things. CB3 is one of them, and pretty soon he may be known for being the guy who is "just that far" from victory lane.
Friday night at the Ransomville Speedway the Mighty Taco number 3 was without a doubt, the fastest 358 in the field. Problem was, there was a field, the same strong drivers week in and week out that kept him distanced for just one too many laps. On a lap 11 restart, Scott Kerwin began his charge to the front, roughly 4 laps later, so did Chad. While Kerwin took the lead with just a handful of laps remaining, Chad put his foot to the floor and was gaining on him. While carving lap traffic one car at a time, Chad saw parallel flags and knew he had just two laps to go, and the charge was on. Running second, Chad looked to the lines he ran fastest all night and off of turn 4, he came up two car lengths short of the lead and 1 lap short of victory lane.
Saturdays racing at the Merrittville Speedway was lost to the weatherman and will be made up with double features this weekend.
Sunday night, the Humberstone Speedway point leader pulled in to the pits looking to stretch his lead and a guaranteed spot in this years "Battle at the Border" Friday July 2nd at Ransomville. Once again, CB3 unloaded fast and won his heat race, allowing him to draw the 3rd place starting position for a special heads up start. On the drop of the green flag, Chad looked for a quick way around the bottom of the racetrack, and soon found that Pete Bicknell was looking for the exact same treasure. Pete found what he was looking for off of turn four on lap 10 to sneak past Chad and into 3rd place at the time. Chad would follow Pete to the front of the field and by doing so found himself among lap traffic and ten car lengths behind the leader in need of a caution to bring the field back together. That very caution, never came and eventually saw Chad take home another runner up finish as both he and Pete lapped 20 of the 24 car field on their way to checkers. Chad did in fact stretch his point lead as he was the best finisher among the track regulars in 2010.
Be sure to check out the action this weekend at Ransomville Friday night and a double feature "Power Trip" Saturday at Merrittville. You won't want to miss this weekend, it will be one for the record books.
